Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, Czech Republic to get 65 mln euros to support Ukrainian refugees - European Commission

BRUSSELS. Dec 18 (Interfax) - The European Union countries with the most Ukrainian refugees will receive assistance of more than 65 million euros, the European Commission said in a statement published in Brussels on Monday.

"The European Commission has decided [...] to make available over 65 million euros from the Asylum Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) to support Bulgaria, Czechia, Poland, and Romania in hosting people [...]. This decision follows a targeted call for financing of the projects aiming to alleviate the pressure on the reception capacity of these member states and to help them ensure that beneficiaries of temporary protection receive the necessary support, services and assistance," the statement said.

Currently, the EU has more than 4.1 million Ukrainian refugees under the temporary protection extended until March 2025, it said.

Now Bulgaria, Poland, Romania and the Czech Republic may use this extra EU funding to help the beneficiaries of temporary protection to move out of collective accommodation to private housing by helping them financially during the transition period and providing them with language and professional training and access to social and health services, the Commission said.
