Germany announces new package of Ukraine relief aid worth 6.1 million euro

MOSCOW. Dec 18 (Interfax) - Berlin will send Ukraine 6.1 million euro worth of humanitarian assistance including generators and battery storage units, the Ukrainian media reported, citing the press service of the German Federal Foreign Office.

"Along with the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW), we are sending additional cargoes worth 6.1 million euro this winter," Baerbock said.

Ukraine will be sent 500 more power generators worth around 3.5 million euro in total, German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser said.

"The THW is preparing to transport more than 500 additional power generators worth around EUR3.5 million euro in total, and has already delivered some of them to Ukraine. To support Ukraine's energy infrastructure, the THW already bought more than 1,300 potent power generators (of up to 1,250 kilovolt-amps) and 20 battery storage units," Faeser said.

Ukraine received more than 800 power generators and 15 battery storage units, which the country now uses at its thermal power plants, pump stations, big bakeries and hospitals, and for decentralized provisions to its population.

Preparations are also underway to transport more than 900 radiators, 1,700 winter sleeping bags, winter clothing and mobile field kitchens to Ukraine. Also, Ukraine's state agency of water resources will be sent two water purification stations soon to provide the population with clean drinking water.
