Belarus and Russia to continue work on equalizing gas prices in 2024-2025 - Belarusian Energy Ministry

MINSK. Dec 15 (Interfax) - Belarus and Russia intend in 2024-2025 to continue work on equalizing price terms and conditions as part of creating a unified gas market within the Union State, Belarusian Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich said in a statement.

"Work will continue with Russian colleagues in 2024-2025 to determine coordinated approaches to market formation aimed at leveling the economic terms and conditions of the business entities of our countries, thereby increasing the competitiveness of the economies and improving the well-being of citizens," Karankevich said online at the Russian Gas international forum, as quoted by the Energy Ministry's press service.

Karankevich recalled that, "Thanks to agreements at the level of the heads of state of Belarus and Russia, price conditions for natural gas for Belarus have been set until 2025."

Karankevich previously noted that, "Price conditions for gas have been set for 2023-2025."

"It is necessary going forward to agree on the operating principles of the unified gas market, as well as the operating conditions of business entities after 2025. The most important task is further coming closer together and reaching equal conditions for the business entities of the two countries, and, accordingly, increasing the competitiveness of not only Belarus, but also within the entire Union State, and the possibility of joint entry into the markets of third-party countries," Karankevich said.
