EU agrees to begin membership talks with Ukraine, Moldova - European Council head
BRUSSELS. Dec 14 (Interfax) - European Union countries have decided to begin talks with Ukraine and Moldova on their accession to the EU, European Council President Charles Michel said on Thursday.
"The European Council has decided to open accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova," Michel said on X.
The EU also "granted candidate status to Georgia," he said.
EU leaders have yet to give the go-ahead to negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina about its accession to the bloc, but will make a decision as soon as the EU's conditions have been met, Michel said.
