MOSCOW. Dec 14 (Interfax) - The Moscow City Court has refused to release Evan Gershkovich, reporter of the Wall Street Journal's Moscow bureau charged with espionage, from custody.

"The Lefortovsky District Court ruling, which extends Gershkovich's custody, is upheld, and the defense's appeal is dismissed," the court press service told Interfax on Thursday.

Gershkovich will stay at the pretrial detention facility through January 30, 2024.

The court met in camera, as materials in the proceeding are classified.
