Share of oil and gas sector in Russia's GDP rises to 17.3% in Q3 from 16.0% in Q2 - Rosstat

MOSCOW. Dec 14 (Interfax) - The share of the oil and gas sector in Russia's GDP structure rose to 17.3% in Q3 2023 from 16.0% in Q2 2023 and 17.0% in Q1 2023, according to the Federal State Statistics Service's (Rosstat) corresponding data published on Wednesday.

The sector's share in GDP was 15.0% in Q4 2022, 16.7% in Q3 2022, 18.8% in Q2 2022, and 22.5% in Q1 2022.

The index of actual volume of gross added value of the oil and gas sector was 95.7% in Q3 2023 against Q3 2022, after 89.6% in Q2 2023 versus Q2 2022, and 89.3% in Q1 2023 against Q1 2022.

According to published methodology, Rosstat recognizes enterprises engaged in producing crude oil, natural gas, and their products (the primary subsector); and engaged in producing goods and delivering services related to oil and gas production, their processing, transportation, and sale to the consumer (the secondary subsector); as well as engaged in support activities to ensure the functioning of oil and gas sector units as being part of the oil and gas sector of the economy.
