Over 3,000 trucks queuing to cross Belarusian-EU border - Belarusian border committee

MINSK. Dec 13 (Interfax) - Over 3,000 trucks are currently queuing to cross the Belarusian border with the European Union, the Belarusian State Border Committee said.

"The EU is continuing to keep long lines of trucks on the border with Belarus. Over 1,000 trucks are waiting to cross into Latvia and Poland and over 2,000 into Lithuania," it said.

As of noon December 13, the busiest route to the EU passed through the Lithuanian crossing of Salcininkai (Benyakoni on the Belarusian side of the border), where over 1,055 trucks were queueing, the service said. Lithuanian officers have let through less than a quarter of the normal daily number of trucks over the past 24 hours there, it said.

"The smallest number of trucks, 6%, was cleared for passage at the Medininkai (Kamenny Log) border crossing, that is, one in 20 possible trucks per hour," it said.
