Avtovaz confirms 2024 production plan of over 500,000 vehicles

YEKATERINBURG. Dec 13 (Interfax) - Avtovaz plans to produce over 500,000 cars in 2024, company president Maxim Sokolov said.

"Our production plan this year is about 400,000 cars. (...) Next year we plan to increase production volumes more than a quarter, breaking the bar of 500,000 cars," Sokolov said during a meeting of the Chelyabinsk regional council branch of the Union of Mechanical Engineers of Russia in Chelyabinsk on Wednesday.

As Sokolov said in June, the volume of car production at Avtovaz group enterprises in 2024 could reach 500-550,000 compared to 400,000 this year; it will depend, in particular, on the pace of export recovery.

Meanwhile, in November, Sokolov said that the inclusion of the automaker in the US sanctions lists forced the company to adjust plans to produce 400,000 cars this year, and the actual production volume of Lada cars will be up to 10% less. "As soon as it became obvious that we were included in the SDN List, it became clear that passage through some of our supply chains would be difficult," he said.

Avtovaz data shows that, in January-October 2023, the company produced 293,000 cars. Lada sales in Russia in the same period, as reported, reached almost 283,500 units, which is almost double the figure for the same period last year.
