Krasnodar airport may resume operation after trial flight due on Dec 15 - territorial administration

KRASNODAR. Dec 13 (Interfax) - Krasnodar International Airport, part of Aerodynamics Group, may resume operation after a trial flight due to take place on December 15, 2023, the territorial administration told Interfax.

"According to the regional transport ministry, the trial flight from the airport is scheduled for December 15, with its results to serve as a basis for the decision on whether flights can resume from the international airport," an administration representative said.

Krasnodar airport was closed in February 2022 for security reasons. The only operating airport in the Southern Federal District is Sochi.

The airports of Anapa, Gelendzhik, Rostov-on-Don, Simferopol and Elista, as well as a number of airports in the Central Federal District (Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kursk and Lipetsk) remain closed.

Along with Anapa and Sochi airports, Krasnodar airport belongs to Aerodynamics Group. It posted record passenger traffic of five million in 2021.
