United States sanctions Russian oil and gas sector engineering, mining and financial cos

MOSCOW. Dec 12 (Interfax) - The United States has imposed sanctions on Russian engineering companies specializing in oil and gas processing technologies.

OFAC, the Office of Foreign Assets Control, said the SDN List now included large-capacity spiral heat exchangers manufacturer LLC Northern Technologies as well as LLC Gazprom Linde Engineering, metalwork manufacturer LLC Agrisovgaz and JSC Kazan Compressor Engineering Plant (Kazankompressormash, which is part of JSC HMS Group.

Businessman Ivan Tavrin and a number of companies he is affiliated have been subject to U.S. sanctions. In particular, the SDN list includes Kismet Group, owned by Tavrin, and a number of other legal entities. OFAC has imposed sanctions against Expobank, owned by Russian entrepreneur Igor Kim.

Based on the results of the third quarter of 2023, Expobank ranked 35th in terms of assets in the Interfax-100 ranking prepared by the Interfax Center for Economic Analysis.

The United States has followed the United Kingdom in imposing sanctions against Highland Gold Mining and its owner Vladislav Sviblov. According to OFAC documents, the license to wind down operations with Highland Gold will be valid until March 11. Another license imposes the same deadline to dispose of securities in Highland Gold Mining Limited and any of its subsidiaries. Gold miner Vysochaishy, also known as GV Gold, and its co-owner and Lanta Bank CEO Sergei Dokuchayev were sanctioned for the first time.

Lipetsk-based manufacturer of electric cars under the Evolute brand also has been added to the U.S. sanctions list. The SDN list now includes the manufacturer's legal entity, Motorinvest LLC.

Since the end of last year, Motorinvest has been engaged in the production and sales of Evolute electric cars using the technologies of China's DongFeng, and is also a distributor of Chinese car brands Dongfeng and Voyah.

The SDN LIST also includes European Bearing Corporation, also known as EPK JSC, and the company's subsidiaries: Trading House EPK LLC, EPK Kuznitsa LLC, EPK Novye Tekhnologii LLC, EPK Saratov JSC, EPK Samara JSC and EPK Volzhsky JSC.

EPK was set up in 2001. According to the company's website, it is the largest Russian manufacturer of bearings "for all branches of machine building."
