Ukrainian pharmaceutical companies say haven't sensed major negative effects from Polish border blockade

MOSCOW. Dec 12 (Interfax) - Ukrainian pharmaceutical companies are saying they have not experienced considerable negative effects from the Polish-Ukrainian border blockade.

Pharma Start CEO Yevgeny Zaika told Ukrainian media that the company's portfolio includes both imported medications and those manufactured at Pharma Start's factory in Ukraine using foreign raw and other materials.

"As of now, we haven't sensed any considerable effects from the strike, as we had imported medications through the Hungarian-Ukrainian border, and we had supplied our factory beforehand, in line with the plan. Potentially, the situation may affect us, but we're working on preventing this," Zaika said.

The Farmak pharmaceutical company said that, while the company did not suffer substantial direct losses from the border blockade, it still had to "look for ways to deal with the current situation." In particular, the protests have increased the time of delivery by five to eight days for imports and by ten to twelve days for exports. The company is also experiencing a considerable shortage in trucks.

"We are ordering the necessary raw and other materials in advance and promptly building new logistical chains to export our own products and import components," the company said.
