Miyamoto International to design new cargo terminals at Ukrainian border checkpoints at USAID's request

MOSCOW. Dec 11 (Interfax) - The Miyamoto International engineering company will draw up documentation for the design of new cargo terminals at the Ukrainian border checkpoints under the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)'s project to improve transport and logistics infrastructure and retrofit the border checkpoints.

"DAI Global LLC, which is implementing USAID's Ukraine Economic Support project, has signed a subcontract with the Miyamoto International engineering company to improve transport and logistics infrastructure and retrofit the checkpoints on the Ukrainian border," Ukrainian media reported, quoting the Ukrainian State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development as saying on social media.

Under the signed subcontract, Miyamoto Ukraine will perform a physical-economic and feasibility study, draw up preliminary documentation for the design of new cargo terminals at the border checkpoints, and provide post-project services at nine priority checkpoints, which will be improved under the USAID project, it said.

Miyamoto International has been operating in Ukraine since September 2022. The company signed a memorandum with the Ukrainian Restoration Agency in October. The company's office in Ukraine has a staff of 128 engineers.

It is also reported that USAID will allocate $115 million to support the Ukrainian Restoration Agency, Ukrainian Railways, and the State Customs Service in order to revamp the border checkpoints with Poland, Hungary, Romania, Moldova, and Slovakia in 2023-2026.
