Russia had 1.11% inflation in Nov, annual figure quickened to 7.48% - Rosstat
MOSCOW. Dec 8 (Interfax) - Inflation in Russia was 1.11% in November 2023, the State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said.
Inflation was 0.83% in October, 0.87% in September, 0.28% in August, 0.63% in July, 0.37% in June, 0.31% in May, 0.38% in April, 0.37% in March, 0.46% in February and 0.84% in January 2023.
Consumer prices rose 6.64% in January-November.
Inflation in November was slightly below the 1.2% that economists predicted in a consensus forecast for Interfax.
According to the Rosstat data, annual inflation quickened 7.48% in November - the analysts forecast approximately 7.6% - from 6.69% at the end of October, 6.00% at the end of September, 5.15% at the end of in August, 4.30% at the end of July, 3.25% at the end of June, 2.51% at the end of May and 2.31% at the end of April. The figure was 3.51% at the end of March, 10.99% in February and 11.77% at the end of January 2023 and 11.94% at the end of December 2022.
Core or underlying inflation was 101.01% in November 2023, up from 100.89% in October 2023. On an annualized basis, the core consumer price index rose to 106.36% in November from 105.50% in October.
Food prices rose 1.55% in November and rose 7.21% in annual terms, with fruit and vegetables averaging up 5.51% in the month and rising 23.89% in annual terms.
Non-foods goods went up 0.53% in November and 5.58% in annual terms.
Service charges rose 1.23% in November and rose 10.42% in annual terms.
Prices rose for chicken eggs rose 15.07% in November and 40.29% since the start of the year.
They rose in November for selected fruit and vegetables, including cucumbers - 35.1%, tomatoes - 19.1%, grapes - 8.6% and garlic - 6.8%. They fell for oranges - 9.4%, lemons - 6.3%, carrots - 1.5% and potatoes - 0.7%.
Other foods to go up in price in November included ready-to-eat poultry products - 3.0%, chicken parts - 2.5%, beef and pork liver - 2.3%, peas and beans - 2.2% and turkey - 1.9%.
Prices fell for sugar - 2.83%.
Gas vehicle fuel went up 3.2% in price. Gasoline fell 0.7% but diesel went up 0.3%.
Price for new local brands of passenger car went up 6.0% in November.
Passenger transport fares rose 3.54% in November, with growth for sleeper berth, economy class and seated travel on long-distance trains - 1.3%-23.2% and economy class air travel - 6.0%.
