Nearly 500 communities cut off from power supply in Ukraine for various reasons

MOSCOW. Dec 8 (Interfax) - As many as 492 populated areas in Ukraine have no electricity supply now due to adverse weather, technical failures, and other causes, Ukrainian media have reported with reference to the Energy Ministry's statement.

Some 2,000 customers have been cut off from power because of bad weather in 13 communities of the Dnepropetrovsk region, and another 5,000 customers have no electricity due to technical causes in 15 communities of the Kiev-controlled part of the Zaporozhye region.

Another 13,800 customers experienced outages for technical reasons in the Lvov region on Thursday evening, and electricity was restored to all of them within an hour, the ministry said.

In general, no scheduled power cuts to households are planned, it said.
