Azerbaijan shipped 5.6 bcm of gas to EU via pipeline in H1

BAKU. Dec 8 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan exported 2.8 bcm of gas to the European Union in Q2 2023, with shipments during this period remaining at the level of January-March of this year.

This data comes from the European Commission quarterly report on the situation in the European gas market. The EC's information is based on data from the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG) platform.

Earlier, the EC reported that in Q1 2023, Azerbaijan shipped 2.8 bcm of gas to the EU. Thus, in H1, Baku's gas exports to the EU totaled 5.6 billion cubic meters.

The report notes that in Q2, the EU imported 43.2 bcm of gas through pipelines, which is 4.6% more than in Q1 and 29% less than in the same period last year.

The top five largest suppliers of pipeline gas to Europe in April-June included Norway, with 20.6 bcm (a 47.7% share), North African countries, with 8.5 bcm (19.6% share), Great Britain, with 6 bcm (13.8% share), Russia, with 5 bcm (12.4% share) and Azerbaijan, with 2.8 bcm (6.5% share).

In 2022, Azerbaijan increased gas exports 18% to 22.3 bcm, while shipments to Europe totaled 11.4 bcm (an increase of 39%). For 2023, gas exports from Azerbaijan are planned at 24.5 bcm, of which more than 12 bcm will go to Europe.
