Russian presidential election to be held on March 15-17, 2024 - CEC

MOSCOW. Dec 8 (Interfax) - The Russian presidential election will be held over three days, from March 15 through 17, 2024, consistent with a resolution adopted by the Russian Central Elections Commission (CEC).

"Thirteen CEC members vote yes, and one is against. The resolution passes," CEC head Ella Pamfilova announced at the commission meeting on Friday.

"Three-day voting is becoming traditional for our electoral system. It took place for the first time during the pandemic to ensure voters' safety and, as time passed, the format has appealed to a majority of voters due to its other advantages," she said.

This is proven by opinion polls, Pamfilova said.

The Federation Council scheduled the next Russian presidential election on Thursday.
