Ukrainian Rada speaker guarantees U.S. control over spending of its financial aid to Ukraine

MOSCOW. Dec 7 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada Chairman Ruslan Stefanchuk has offered guarantees that the United States can fully monitor the way its financial assistance for Ukraine is utilized.

"We are prepared to account for every cent invested in the Ukrainian army," Ukrainian media quoted Stefanchuk as saying during a national TV marathon on Wednesday.

"As Ukrainian parliamentary speaker, on behalf of the Ukrainian parliament, I guarantee this transparency at the highest possible level," he said.

The Verkhovna Rada has set up an ad hoc commission for monitoring the receipt and use of international assistance provided to the country, he said.

"We have a range of [...] new software tools enabling all individuals concerned at the Congress level and at the administration level to monitor the spending of funds provided to Ukraine as military, humanitarian, or financial assistance. That is, we're interested in seeing this transparency in place," Stefanchuk said.

The Ukrainian speaker was on a working visit to the U.S. on December 4 to 6.
