Rosneft creates corporate telecom operator, implements pLTE network

MOSCOW. Dec 7 (Interfax) - PJSC Rosneft has created its own cellular operator, RN-Svyaz, the Russian oil company said in a statement.

Rosneft is implementing the project with the help of the Sibintek IT integrator, a Rosneft entity.

Rosneft plans to develop the mobile operator to a full MVNO model within several years. The statement does not indicate which federal telecom operators will participate in the project.

Moreover, the company has implemented a dedicated Private LTE (pLTE) wireless network at more than 20 Rosneft facilities with the help of the integrator, including at the rotational camp of the Sever Bay oil terminal at the Vostok Oil project.

There are plans to scale the network at other production facilities in the coming years, the company notes.

Rosneft's pLTE network was created based on domestic software and equipment.

"It is also possible to integrate existing and future industrial technological solutions into the new network, including those developed by Sibintek. Among them are Digital Plant, Digital Field, and the industrial internet system," according to the statement.
