European Commission grants 4 mln euros for healthcare to Ukrainian refugees in EU countries, Moldova

MOSCOW. Dec 6 (Interfax) - The European Union will allocate 4 million euros to help improve access to healthcare for Ukrainian refugees and displaced persons in nine EU member states and Moldova, the European Commission said in a statement on Wednesday.

"This initiative is a clear signal that we will continue to stand with Ukraine, its people, our member states and partners for as long as necessary," Ukrainian media quoted European Commissioner for Health and Food Security Stella Kyriakides as saying.

The allocated aid is intended for Bulgaria, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Estonia, and Moldova, he said.

The European Commission implements the project together with the International Organization for Migration and the World Health Organization. The project will run for 24 months, and "aim to strengthen the capacity of national health systems to cope with the influx of persons" from Ukraine, the statement said.
