Engineers restore electricity to communities hit by bad weather in Ukraine, over 400 others cut off from power for technical causes

MOSCOW. Dec 6 (Interfax) - Power engineers in Ukraine have restored electricity to all communities earlier cut off from power due to adverse weather, but 423 communities currently have no electricity for technical and other reasons, Ukrainian media reported citing the Energy Ministry's post on a social network.

Power supply is not limited in any part of the country, and no scheduled outages are planned, it said.

Some emergencies have also been reported in the gas transport infrastructure. In particular, an underground low-pressure gas distribution pipeline was damaged because of violations during earthwork in the Lvov region, leaving 98 households without gas. The Energy Ministry said gas leak has now been stopped, and emergency services are working to repair the damage.

A high-pressure gas pipeline has also been damaged in the Kharkov region, disrupting gas supply to 621 households and a boiler house in a local hospital. Emergency work is underway to repair the damage.

As reported, 467 populated areas across Ukraine were cut off from power supply because of adverse weather and other reasons as of Tuesday morning, including 31 communities in the Lvov region where power supply was disrupted exclusively due to bad weather.
