Naftogaz purchases 140 mcm of gas from private producers on stock exchange in Nov

MOSCOW. Dec 5 (Interfax) - Naftogaz Group purchased 139.5 million cubic meters of gas from private producers on the Ukrainian Energy Exchange (UEB) in November, Naftogaz CEO Alexei Chernyshov said.

"Such [privately produced] gas has a number of advantages. First, we are filling the state budget in this way, because these are taxes. Secondly, we are stimulating greater production, supplying domestic companies with the required liquidity. We are building up reserves, we are developing Ukrainian production," Ukrainian media quoted him as saying on social media.

As reported, in 2023, Naftogaz first traded on the UEB on April 26.

In mid-November, Chernyshov said that the group has purchased 700 million to 800 million cubic meters of gas from private producers since the beginning of the year. At the same time, Naftogaz stands ready to buy back the entire amount of gas offered by private gas producers in 2024 if the ban on its exports is extended.
