Athens to host int'l conference on Ukraine's recovery in Feb 2024

MOSCOW. Dec 5 (Interfax) - Athens will host an international conference on Ukraine's reconstruction and recovery involving Greek businesses on February 15, 2024, Ukrainian media have reported with reference to the government's press service.

"January 15, 2024 will mark 32 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Greece. The resumption of the Ukrainian-Greek intergovernmental working group on economic, industrial, technical, and scientific cooperation, which I co-chair on the Ukrainian side, is extremely relevant these days. It's important that we've agreed upon the date of the next meeting and have started preparations," Oleg Nemchinov, a Ukrainian Cabinet minister, said following a meeting with Spyridon Lambridis, the Greek Foreign Ministry's special envoy for Ukraine.

The key issues to be considered at the conference include the drafting of a Ukraine recovery plan (aspects of planning and financing recovery projects involving European agencies and the Ukrainian government), an institutional business mechanism (the presentation of a mechanism for businesses to be involved in recovery projects along with Ukrainian government experts and business representatives experienced in local recovery efforts), and cooperation opportunities in certain sectors (construction, transport, logistics, energy, technology, IT, consulting, and healthcare, involving members of Greek and Ukrainian commerce and industry organizations).
