Russian govt to allocate over 3 bln rubles in 2024 for digitalization of agriculture and fisheries

MOSCOW. Dec 4 (Interfax) - The Russian government will allocate more than 3 billion rubles for the digital transformation of the agricultural complex and fishery in 2024, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a meeting with deputy prime ministers on Monday.

"Entrepreneurs will be able to take advantage of modern technologies to increase yields, optimize costs, establish effective channels for marketing products and, accordingly, gain a number of other competitive advantages for agriculture, the development of which will contribute to improving the quality and diversity of food products," Mishustin said. "To fulfill these tasks, strategic directions in the field of digital transformation are being updated. A government decree has been prepared, which supplements the "road map" of specific steps in the agricultural sector, including the definition of areas for the use of new technologies, including artificial intelligence," he said.

According to him, among the promising areas of their application are the development of automatic irrigation systems, accessible unmanned transportation for the appropriate treatment of fields, collection of satellite data on soil conditions or aquatic biological resources, etc.," he said.

According to a government statement, the digitalization of services will be carried out in several stages. In 2026, this indicator should reach 50%, in 2027 - 75%, in 2028 the registration of all support measures will be fully digitalized.

In December 2024, the digital platform for the agricultural and fisheries sectors will be finalized. It will be launched in March 2025. By December 2030, the system will become a single point of integration of information resources of the Agriculture Ministry and Rosrybolovstvo, automating calculations for subsidizing farmers and agricultural insurance.

Mishustin asked all relevant departments to treat this issue with utmost attention and, if necessary, to update regulatory documents in a timely manner.
