Crossing point on border with Poland to open on Dec 4 for empty trucks exiting Ukraine

MOSCOW. Dec 4 (Interfax) - The Ugrinov-Dolhobychuv border crossing between Ukraine and Poland will be opened for empty trucks on Monday, December 4, Ukrainian media outlets said, citing remarks made by Deputy Prime Minister and Infrastructure Minister Alexander Kubrakov on social media.

"This is a general border crossing, which, as a rule, processed only cars and buses. An agreement to open a lane for empty trucks weighing 7.5 tonnes and more was reached in cooperation with the Infrastructure Ministry of Poland and Lublin province administration with the support of the European Commission (DG MOVE)," Kubrakov said.

The opening of this border crossing tops the list of measures Ukraine is carrying out to reduce lines and boost the throughput capacity of the Ukrainian-Polish border, the minister said.

"We are working to have this blockade lifted as soon as possible," he said.

"From December 4, empty trucks, including cisterns, heading from Ukraine will be able to start moving to this crossing. It will be on a trial run for now, and there is no need to register in the queue to cross the border. At the same time, colleagues from Ukraine's State Service for Transport Safety will regulate the traffic and help drivers if necessary," Kubrakov said.

The capacity of this border crossing is currently more than 100 trucks per day, he said.
