Poland to tighten checks of trucks at Polish-Ukrainian border

MOSCOW. Dec 4 (Interfax) - Polish services will tighten controls at the Polish-Ukrainian border, and the Polish government is also planning measures in European institutions to eliminate "unfair competition on the transport market," Ukrainian media have reported with reference to Polish radio citing the Polish Infrastructure Ministry.

"We support an ongoing dialogue with the transport sector. We agreed at our last meeting that government services would tighten checks of trucks at the Polish-Ukrainian border. This was among the sector's demands," Infrastructure Minister Alvin Gajadhur said.

The Polish government will also take steps in European institutions to eliminate "unfair competition on the transport market," Gajadhur said.

The European Union Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council meeting set for December 4 is "a moment when the EU should address the effects of the lifting of the requirement for Ukrainian truck drivers to have permits to enter the EU," he said.
