Russia's Chukotka region ups gold production 7%, silver 16% in 10M

ANADYR. Dec 1 (Interfax) - Russia's Far Eastern Chukotka Autonomous District produced 19.7 tonnes of gold in January-October 2023, up 7% from a year previously, Vladislav Kuznetsov, the region's head, said on Telegram.

Highland Gold's Chukotka Mining and Geological Company JSC, Rudnik Valunisty LLC and Base Metals CJSC, Polymetal's Mayskoye Gold Company LLC and Leviev Group's Rudnik Karalveem LLC mined hardrock gold in Chukotka.

Silver production grew 16% to 96.7 tonnes,

"Lignite coal production has risen 23% this year to 108,000 tonnes. We use this type of coal in our boilers. The Beringpromugol company mined 1.302 million tonnes of coal in total at the Fandyushkinskoye field," Kuznetsov said.

Chukotka produced 21.9 tonnes of gold in 2022, down 13% from 2021. It also produced 98 tonnes of silver, down 10.5%. Coal production rose 50% to 1.5 million tonnes.
