Damate Group begins lamb shipments to Iran

MOSCOW. Nov 30 (Interfax) - Damate Group of Companies, which is implementing a large project for the production and processing of lamb in the North Caucasus, has begun shipping products to Iran.

The volume of the first shipments is over 350 tonnes, a company press release said.

Damate sends chilled carcasses to Iran on a monthly delivery schedule. For this purpose, an agreement was concluded with the Gostareh Toseegari Pardis Company, which has the largest state quota and permission to import meat into Iran from different countries.

To begin shipping lamb, all necessary permits were obtained confirming the compliance of production and products with Iranian requirements.

"Iran is one of the leading consumers of red meat in Western Asia, where lamb is in demand. Its market is of great interest to the Russian sheep industry and has the potential to become a significant importer of lamb," the press release said.

Damate produces lamb at Russia's largest lamb processing plant in Karachay-Cherkessia.

The company plans to begin supplying semi-finished lamb products to Iranian retail chains. Negotiations are currently underway with two large retail chains.

Damate began shipping lamb for export in the spring of 2023. The first shipment of chilled products was sent to Saudi Arabia.
