Gazprom discusses long-term supplies of Russian gas and its transportation with Kazakh authorities

MOSCOW. Nov 30 (Interfax) - Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller and First Deputy Kazakh Prime Minister Roman Sklyar have discussed further interaction in the framework of the strategic cooperation agreement signed in November.

The Russian gas giant said they discussed the prospects for long-term supplies and transportation of Russian natural gas, among other issues.

Gazprom signed a contract with Kazakhstan's QazaqGaz in June 2023 to provide services for transporting Russian natural gas through Kazakh territory for Uzbek consumers.

A ceremony to launch Russian gas supplies to Uzbekistan via Kazakhstan took place in October. Russian gas is shipped to Uzbekistan in reverse mode via Kazakhstan through a dedicated route in the Central Asia - Center gas pipeline system.

Gazprom and Kazakhstan's government signed a strategic cooperation agreement in November. Its purpose is to develop cooperation in gas supply, transportation and processing, as well as exploration and production.

Miller said on November 1 that Gazprom planned by mid-2024 to create a legally binding contractual basis for cooperation with countries of Central Asia over a 15-year horizon.
