Ukrainian MPs explaining to U.S. voters why assistance to Kiev must continue

MOSCOW. Nov 30 (Interfax) - Ukrainian parliamentarians are working in the United States this week, seeking to persuade American voters that assistance to Ukraine must continue, Ukrainian media said, citing remarks made by pro-presidential Servant of the People faction member Yegor Chernev, who is also deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence.

"If I'm not mistaken, there're nine main states that we've dispersed across. And they are mostly pro-Republican," Chernev said during a national telethon on Wednesday.

Ukrainian MPs have arrived in the U.S. for meetings with American voters at the invitation of Senate and Congress members, he said.

"When we met with them the last few times, moderate Republicans and even moderate Democrats asked, 'Please, work in the districts with our voters so that they understand why Ukraine needs help from outside [...]', " Chernev said.
