Synchronizing energy systems of Europe and Ukraine completed; limited supply for Ukrenergo has been increased - ENTSO-E
MOSCOW. Nov 29 (Interfax) - Synchronizing the Ukrainian and European energy systems has been completed successfully, ENTSO-E, the European association for the cooperation of transmission system operators (TSOs) for electricity was cited as saying by Ukrainian media.
"The Transmission System Operator (TSO) announces completing synchronizing the project with Ukrenergo, and substantially increasing export capacity from continental Europe to Ukraine [...] Ukrainian system operator, Ukrenergo, has achieved compliance with the key technical requirements necessary to ensure permanent interconnection between the power systems of continental Europe and Ukraine," ENTSO-E said.
European TSOs have decided to ramp up the capacity limit for electricity trade with Ukraine and Moldova by 500 MW to 1,700 MW, as based on modeling the security and stability of the system," ENTSO-E clarifies.
As noted, project synchronizing started in 2017 with the signing of an agreement on the terms and conditions of interconnecting energy systems going forward, and "today's announcement signals the full implementation of the terms and conditions in the agreement."
"The new level of cooperation between the operators of continental Europe and Ukrenergo not only strengthens regional energy security, but also contributes to a more integrated and more efficient energy market," ENTSO-E President Zbinek Boldisch was quoted as saying in the press release.
