KEGOC completes 780 km of 220 kV lines boosting West Kazakhstan Energy Hub

ASTANA. Nov 29 (Interfax) - KEGOC, Kazakhstan's energy grid operator, has completed construction of five new 220 kV power transmission lines along the West Kazakhstan Energy Hub - Atyrau - Mangistau route with a total length of about 780 km, the company's press service said.

The project involved the installation of over 4,200 electrical poles and the expansions of five substations. The new Karabatan distribution substation was also put into operation.

"In total, this has doubled the reliability of the network in the Western zone. The likelihood of disconnection for consumers has been minimized," the press service said.

KEGOC owns nearly 27,000 km of power transmission lines with voltage of 220-1150 kV, as well as 82 electrical substations. In early November, the Samruk-Kazyna state fund sold 5% of the company's shares as part of an SPO, reducing its stake to 85%.
