Ukrainian parliament to open office at European Parliament

MOSCOW. Nov 29 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian parliament plans to open an office at the European Parliament, Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk said.

"We have discussed very important issues related to the mutual opening of offices [with European Parliament President Roberta Metsola]. I mean it is planned to open a European Parliament office in Kiev and a Verkhovna Rada office at the European Parliament," Ukrainian media quoted Stefanchuk as saying on the national telethon on Tuesday.

He also said they were working so that Ukrainian deputies "have an opportunity [...] to be observers at European Parliament meetings" before Ukraine enters into the European Union.

Stefanchuk called for harmonizing the activity of Ukrainian and European Parliament offices.

In his words, it is crucial to the Ukrainian parliament to comply with parliamentarianism criteria, considering Ukraine's integration with Europe and "our aspiration for full compatibility."

Stefanchuk is paying a working visit to Brussels on November 27-3o.
