Roman Petryaev named head of former Volvo plant in Kaluga

KALUGA. Nov 29 (Interfax) - Roman Petryaev has been appointed executive director of JSC Automobile Motor Association (AMO), the former truck manufacturing plant of Sweden's Volvo in Kaluga, Industrial Investments Group, which completed the acquisition of the plant last week, reported.

Petryaev, who oversaw the construction of the plant, was presented to plant employees on Tuesday and will officially assume the position on December 1.

"It is important for us to maintain and develop production competencies at the plant. The appointment of Roman Petryaev, a person who worked in management positions at the plant for many years and knows the staff, to the position of executive director of JSC AMO will make it possible to not only utilize the plant's production capacity as soon as possible, but also propel the business to leading roles in Russia's auto industry," Industrial Investments CEO Andrei Alexandrov said.

The company said that Petryaev became head of the project to build the Kaluga truck plant in 2007 and from August 2008 he served as production director at the plant, managed the construction and launch of production facilities for Volvo and Renault automobiles, and oversaw the line organizations of both divisions. He subsequently became director of development and led the project to build a cab plant. In 2015 he joined the parent company as promotions and government relations manager.

Petryaev also served in the government of Ryazan Region for four years and in 2022 became the region's lead representative to the Russian government.
