EU allocates 194 mln euros additionally for Ukrainian army's training

BRUSSELS. Nov 28 (Interfax) - The Council of the European Union has made a decision on Tuesday to provide additional financing in the amount of 194 million euros for training of Ukrainian servicemen as part of the EU Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine).

"Such support will be granted through the European Peace Facility and take the form of necessary lethal and non-lethal equipment and supplies, as well as services to back the training activities," the Council said in a statement released in Brussels.

"The financial amount is increased by 194 million euros totaling 255 million euros," the statement said.

The objective of this decision is "to continue supporting the capacity building of the Ukrainian Armed Forces by EUMAM, based on Ukrainian needs and taking into account the increasing scope and complexity of the training curriculum," it said.

Over 34,000 Ukrainian servicemen underwent training since EUMAM's launch, it said.
