Roscosmos expects Angara maiden launch from Vostochny in Q1 2024
MOSCOW. Nov 28 (Interfax) - The maiden launch of an Angara-A5 rocket from Vostochny Cosmodrome is planned for the first quarter of 2024, Roscosmos First Deputy General Director Andrei Yelchaninov said.
"We hope that the inaugural launch [of Angara] will be conducted from the new launch site at Vostochny Cosmodrome in the first quarter of 2024," Yelchaninov said at the Congress of Young Scientists.
Currently, an electric fueling mockup of the Angara-A5 rocket is undergoing comprehensive trials at Vostochny. The mockup was installed at the Vostochny launch site on November 16. The trials will continue for a month, Roscosmos said.
Previously, Angara's maiden launch was planned for December 2023 as part of test launches from Vostochny.
Roscosmos head Yury Borisov said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on January 19 that the work on the Angara launch site at Vostochny would be completed in 2023.
