EIB's decision to open office in Kiev important message for Ukrainian businesses - Zelensky

MOSCOW. Nov 28 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky met with President of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Werner Hoyer and EIB Vice President Teresa Czerwinska in Kiev on Monday.

"Thank you for your visit to Ukraine and the decision to open the EIB Regional Office in Kiev. It is also of great importance for Ukrainian business," Ukrainian media reported, quoting Zelensky as saying on social media.

He also thanked the bank's top management for the funds allocated earlier to Ukraine to cover priority needs.

"We would like to primarily prioritize infrastructure projects for Ukraine's reconstruction so that this work has a greater effect," Zelensky said.

"With the establishment of our Regional Hub for Eastern Europe in Kiev, we want to underscore our increased commitment: accompany Ukraine on its European path," Hoyer said.

The EIB is maintaining close cooperation with Ukraine, which includes a number of new initiatives to rebuild infrastructure and support Ukraine's economy, he said. The two loan agreements totaling 450 million euros, which have been recently approved by the EIB's Board of Directors, are among them. The initiatives will be funded through the EU for Ukraine Fund.
