Greater Odessa ports increase hopper acceptance to 856 per day

MOSCOW. Nov 28 (Interfax) - An average daily number of hoppers unloaded at the greater Odessa ports grew 1.66% over the past week to 856, Ukrainian media said, citing a statement by Deputy Director of the Ukrainian Railways Department for Commerce Valery Tkachev on a social network.

"The daily number of grain hoppers unloaded at the greater Odessa ports has been varying from 800 to 950 hoppers over the past week," Tkachev said.

In his words, the number of grain hoppers destined for the greater Odessa ports has decreased by 88, or 1.64% over the past week to 5,249.

Meanwhile, the line of grain hoppers headed to the Izmail port has grown by 11 hoppers (+2.51%) to 450, he said.

According to Tkachev, 118 grain hoppers are unloaded at the Izmail port per day, which is 13 hoppers, or 9.92% less than a week ago.

Bad weather in southern Ukraine hinders cargo transshipment at seaports, he said.

Terminals are being cleared at the Odessa port, and power supply is expected to resume in the afternoon, Tkachev said.

The Chernomorsk port reported unloading problems because of power supply disruptions but said that cargo was still being unloaded.

In turn, the Yuzhny port is transshipping cargo amid disruptions in power supply and is clearing the access routes and the grounds.

Speaking of the Izmail port, Tkachev said that cargo transshipment had resumed but problems were experienced with bringing the cargo to the port.
