Ukraine to have grain harvest larger than last year - PM

MOSCOW. Nov 28 (Interfax) - Ukraine is expecting this year's grain harvest of over 79 million tonnes, which is 10% more than last year, Ukrainian media reported Prime Minister Denis Shmygal as telling a press briefing in Kiev.

In his words, 25% of the harvest would meet Ukraine's domestic demand. "We can and will send the rest wherever there is a threat of famine," he said.

The prime minister reminded the press that Ukraine had sent 170,000 tonnes of food to Ethiopia, Somalia and Kenya, and another 25,000 tonnes would soon be sent to Nigeria.
