Caspian Pipeline Consortium contractors prepare to renovate Tengiz-Novorossiysk pipeline sections
MOSCOW. Nov 28 (Interfax) - Caspian Pipeline Consortium contractors are planning to mobilize in preparation to renovate several sections of the Tengiz-Novorossiysk oil crude pipeline in December, the CPC said in a press release.
Pipe products should be delivered before the end of 2023, it said.
The CPC also said that as the result of the Debottlenecking Program, the throughput capacity of Tengiz-Novorossiysk crude pipeline has been raised to 72.5 million tonne transported through Kazakhstan's territory and to 83 million tonnes transported through Russian territory per year. The old booster pump house at Tengiz pump station and old mainline pump house at Astrakhan PS are being currently dismantled.
"The current crude volumes transported by CPC System significantly exceed last year's indicators. As of November 24, 2023, almost 57.5 million tonnes of oil were loaded for export, while on the same date last year, just slightly above 51 million tonnes had been loaded. A total of 527 tankers were processed at the Marine Terminal this year, which is 66 more than last year," the CPC said.
The 1,511 km CPC pipeline connects oil fields in western Kazakhstan and Russian fields on the Caspian shelf with the marine terminal in Novorossiysk. The system is the main export route for Kazakh oil, accounting for more than 80% of Kazakhstan's volumes pumped through the pipeline. In 2022, the pipeline transported and exported 58.7 million tonnes of oil, which is 3.3% less than in 2021.
CPC's shareholders are the Russian Federation with 31%, with Transneft managing 24% and 7% on the balance sheet; KazMunayGas with 19%; Kazakhstan Pipeline Ventures LLC with 1.75%; Chevron Caspian Pipeline Consortium Company with 15%; LUKARCO B.V. with 12.5%; Mobil Caspian Pipeline Company with 7.5%; Rosneft-Shell Caspian Ventures Limited with 7.5%; BG Overseas Holding Limited at 2%; Eni International N.A. N.V. S.ar.l. with 2%; and Oryx Caspian Pipeline LLC with 1.75%.
