Finland to grant 3 mln euros to improve Ukraine's food security - Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. Nov 27 (Interfax) - Finland will grant 3 million euros in additional support to improve food security in Ukraine, Ukrainian media reported with reference to the Finnish Foreign Ministry's statement on its website.

Finland has been supporting the World Food Program (WFP) and the Ukrainian grain exports since February 2022. In particular, with Finland's support, the WFP is buying grain from Ukraine and taking it to African countries affected by the food crisis, it said.

"Two million euros of the funding now granted will be allocated as humanitarian assistance to the Grain from Ukraine Initiative implemented by the WFP. Finland's earlier support for Ukraine's grain exports amounts to 11.5 million euros," it said.

By supporting the recovery of Ukraine's agricultural sector in areas hit by the crisis, Finland is helping Ukraine "to improve its food security and revive its economy," Finnish Foreign Trade and Development Minister Ville Tavio said.
