Germany automatically extends residence permit for Ukrainian refugees until March 2025

MOSCOW. Nov 27 (Interfax) - Germany has automatically extended temporary protection status for refugees from Ukraine until March 4, 2025, Ukrainian media have reported with reference to the German Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community.

"Residence permit for refugees from Ukraine will be valid until March 4, 2025. The Federal Ministry of the Interior has envisioned this in its resolution. The Federal Council has approved this resolution," it said.

Ukrainian refugees "will not have to submit an application to have their status extended, and there is no need for any meetings with immigration authorities in this regard. Temporary protection shall be extended based on the decision by the EU member states at the end of September 2023," it said.

According to German authorities, about 1.1 million people who have entered Germany since February 24, 2022 are currently staying in the country. This number includes about 350,000 people under 18 years of age, and about two-thirds of the adult refugees are women.
