Ukrainian Railways buys 30,000 t of diesel fuel from ExxonMobil for winter period

MOSCOW. Nov 27 (Interfax) - Oil major ExxonMobil has delivered 30,000 tonnes of diesel fuel by tanker to the Klapeida port in Lithuania, from where it will be shipped to Ukrainian Railways to provide a reserve for the winter, Ukrainian media reported, citing the company.

Taking into accounting existing diesel inventories, Ukrainian Railways has a sufficient amount of the fuel to smoothly get through the winter, the company's press release said.

The contract for this diesel shipment was signed on November 17 and it already started offloading at the Klaipeda port five days later.

The company said the price of the diesel, with delivery, excise and customs clearance, is fairly favourable for the company and will amount to about UAH52,000 per tonne or UAH43-44 per liter. "The final price will be calculated on Monday, five days from the notification of readiness to unload, according to the Platts index," the company said.

Ukrainian Railways estimated that it has already saved about UAH1 billion on diesel by reducing consumption and securing direct contracts with producers.

The official exchange rate was UAH36.01/$1 on November 24.
