Gazprom specialists to show groundwork for gas trade to Turkish partners in St. Petersburg - Russian deputy PM

ANKARA. Nov 27 (Interfax) - Gazprom will present the groundwork created for gas trade to Turkish partners, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said on Saturday in an interview with the Rossiya 24 (VGTRK) television channel following a meeting of the two countries' intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation in Ankara.

"Close interaction is ongoing between Gazprom and Botas" regarding the implementation of a project to set up a gas hub in Turkey, Novak said.

"A roadmap is awaiting the sides' approval. The Turkish partners plan to arrive in St. Petersburg to familiarize themselves with the groundwork in this field. I am certain that agreements on the practical implementation of this project [a gas hub in Turkey] will be reached in the near future," the deputy prime minister said.

As reported, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed in October 2022 that additional gas pipelines be laid from Russia to Turkey along the Black Sea floor and a gas hub be created near the EU border as an alternative to other centers forming gas prices in Europe.

Gazprom reported that it was working jointly with its Turkish partners on setting up a gas hub in that country. Russia has presented its concept of the facility, as well as the parameters and principles for its operation.
