Four TPP units in Ukraine reconnected to grid after emergency repairs - Energy Ministry

MOSCOW. Nov 23 (Interfax) - Four power units at Ukraine's thermal power plants (TPPs) with an overall capacity of over 700 MW have been reconnected to the grid as of November 23, following brief emergency repairs.

"Nine nuclear power units are now operating. Four TPP units in various regions were reconnected to the grid over the course of the day yesterday after short-term emergency repairs. In all, more than 700 MW thermal generation were added to the system over the past day," Ukrainian media quoted the Energy Ministry as saying in a statement on Thursday.

The situation in Ukraine's energy system remained balanced and under control as of the morning on November 23, despite dropping air temperatures and a rise in electricity consumption, the ministry said.

Imported electricity may be used to cover possible shortages during peak consumption in the evening.

Ukraine imported 2,707 MWh and exported 720 MWh of electricity over the past day.

"A 330 kV overhead power line has been damaged in the Vinnitsa region, but no emergency repairs are required," the Energy Ministry said.
