EU, Ukraine expecting timely allocation of last 1.5-bln-euro tranche of macrofinancial aid in Dec

MOSCOW. Nov 22 (Interfax) - The last, eleventh tranche of the European Union's macrofinancial assistance (MFA+) to Ukraine in 2023 worth 1.5 billion euros is expected in December, European Commission Executive Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis and the Ukrainian Finance Ministry said.

"Provided all conditions are met, the last MFA+ payment should come in December together with assessment of entire program," Ukrainian media reported, citing Dombrovskis as saying on social network on Wednesday.

"Ukraine is expected to receive the last MFA+ tranche in 2023 before the end of the year, provided that Ukraine meets the structural policy conditions agreed by the parties," Ukrainian media reported citing a statement of the Ukrainian Finance Ministry.

According to the statement, the ministry has already received the tenth tranche of 1.5 billion euros on Wednesday, thus bringing the total amount of MFA+ funds provided to meet Ukraine's urgent financial needs to 16.5 billion euros in 2023.

Earlier on Wednesday, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that the total amount of assistance provided to Ukraine reached 85 billion euros. Europe wil locontinue giving financial support to Ukraine, she said, adding that "we have proposed 50 billion euros for Ukraine until 2027."

The Ukrainian Finance Ministry expects that 18 billion euros would again be allocated for financing of the budget deficit next year out of these 50 billion euros under the Ukraine Facility 2024-2027 program.
