About 2,700 trucks lined up on Ukrainian-Polish border, traffic via Slovak border unhindered

MOSCOW. Nov 22 (Interfax) - About 2,700 trucks lined up on the Ukrainian-Polish border towards three checkpoints, Yagodin-Dorohusk, Krakovets-Korczowa and Rava Russkaya-Hrebenne, as of the morning of November 22, Ukrainian State Border Guard Service spokesman Andrei Demchenko said.

"The Polish side lets several trucks, perhaps two, five, eight, there is no fixed number, pass the border in both directions every hour. Of course, it has significantly reduced the cargo transport flow. Some 2,700 trucks were in lines in Poland in the three directions towards Ukraine this morning, according to information provided by Polish border guards," Ukrainian media outlets quoted Demchenko as saying on Wednesday.

The longest line of 1,200 trucks was towards the Krakovets checkpoint, with about 900 trucks having gathered outside Yagodin and 600 outside Rava Russkaya, he said.

"More or less intense traffic has been recorded towards Krakovets. But the blockade added lines in other checkpoints, in particular Shegini. Traffic is not blocked there, but according to the Polish side, there was a line of about 1,300 trucks in the morning," Demchenko said.

Truck traffic via the Vysne Nemecke checkpoint in Slovakia towards Ukraine is currently unobstructed, he said.

"Information that traffic was temporarily unblocked in this direction was received in contacts with Slovak border guard last night. At present, we are seeing that there is traffic since last night. Overall, more than 100 trucks were permitted to pass to Ukraine and 65 to exit to Slovakia," he said.

About 350 trucks lined up outside the Vysne Nemecke checkpoint towards Ukraine as of Wednesday morning, he said. "If traffic is more intense, the line will considerably decrease," he said.

On Tuesday, the Ukrainian Border Guard Service said citing the Slovak Border Police that truck traffic heading to the Vysne Nemecke checkpoint, adjacent to the Ukrainian checkpoint Uzhgorod, the only checkpoint for trucks on the Ukrainian-Slovak border, was blocked since 1:30 p.m.

In turn, Slovakia's Union of Road Haulers said on a social network, that it "did not authorize the blocking of the Uzhgorod-Vysne Nemecke checkpoint on the border with Ukraine and shall hold no responsibility for the actions of people who started it on November 21."
