Shipments of Geely automobiles from Belarusian car plant to Russia exceed 45,000 units since beginning of year
MINSK. Nov 22 (Interfax) - This year, Belarus has exported over 45,000 locally assembled Geely automobiles to Russia.
"If last year the plant produced 25,000 cars, then this year it has produced over 60,000, that is, the annual target has already been fulfilled; 59,982 cars were sold. Almost 80% of them were in the Russian Federation," Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Pyotr Parkhomchik said, as cited in SB. Belarus Today.
Based on these data as well as sales numbers for the domestic market, the volume of exports of Geely cars to Russia during the year has exceeded 45,000 units.
Parkhomchik also said that "the current market situation has created the prerequisites to further expand production at the BelGee plant with an increase in capacity to 120,000 cars per year working in a two-shift operating mode."
SJSC BelGee was created in December 2011. In November 2017, the company commissioned a full-cycle CKD car assembly plant in the Minsk region. Current production capacity is up to 60,000 cars per year with the possibility to expand. Cars are supplied to the Russian market among others.
According to the Association of European Businesses (AEB), Geely sales on the Russian market for the first nine months of 2023 increased fourfold to 57,500 cars.
