Transmashholding certifies 3TE28 diesel locomotive for operation in EAEU countries

BRYANSK. Nov 21 (Interfax) - The Bryansk Machine-Building Plant (part of Transmashholding, TMH) received a certificate of compliance with EAEU Customs Union technical regulations for the 3TE28 mainline freight diesel locomotive, the TMH press service reported.

The document allows for the operation of locomotives on the railways of the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union: Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia.

At the end of October, based on its acceptance and certification tests, the locomotive was assigned the "O1" designation, which confirms the diesel locomotive's readiness for serial production. The volume of the installation series has been determined to be 400 diesel locomotives in three- or two-section designs.

Structurally, the three-section diesel locomotive of the new series is based on Russian technical solutions. It was created in line with the concept of ensuring Russia's technological sovereignty in the field of transport engineering.

The 3TE28 is capable of ensuring uninterrupted cargo transportation on the non-electrified sections of the Eastern range of Russia's railways (Baikal-Amur Mainline and Trans-Siberian Railway), driving trains weighing up to 7,100 tonnes in difficult terrain and climatic conditions.

Transmashholding is Russia's largest manufacturer of rolling stock for rail transport.
