Russian treasury to begin pilot testing use of digital ruble in number of budget expenditure items in 2024

MOSCOW. Nov 20 (Interfax) - Russia's federal treasury plans to begin using the digital ruble in pilot mode for individual items of budget expenditures in 2024, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said in a statement.

Answering questions from members of the Federation Council during an extended meeting of the committee on the budget and financial markets, Siluanov said that an agreement on "pilot testing" was reached following a recent meeting of the Finance Ministry and the Central Bank of Russia (CBR).
