Belarusian GDP growth quickens to 3.8% in 10M - Belstat

MINSK. Nov 17 (Interfax) - Belarusian GDP grew 3.8% year-on-year at constant prices in January-October 2023 to 179.2 billion Belarusian rubles, national statistical committee Belstat said.

The GDP index deflator was 109% compared with the same period last year.

GDP grew 3.5% year-on-year in January-September, 3.1% in January-August, 2.9% in January-July, 2% in H1 2023 and 0.9% in January-May after falling 0.6% in January-April, 2.1% in January-March, 3.6% in January-February and 5% in January.

The government is targeting GDP growth of 3.8% in 2023.

The Eurasian Development Bank expects the Belarusian economy to grow 2.2% in 2023, the World Bank says 3%, the International Monetary Fund 1.6% and European Bank for Reconstruction and 2%.

GDP fell 4.7% in 2022 after rising 2.3% in 2021.
